The programme attracted the participation of around 70 chemical users representing various industrial sectors, including chemical importers, traders, manufacturers, transporters, and household-level chemical users.
The primary objective of the programme was to strengthen regulatory compliance, enhance risk management practices, and promote a strong culture of chemical safety and security across the country. Through this initiative, participants were provided with important guidance on the safe handling, storage, transportation, and management of chemicals, as well as their responsibilities under national regulations.

Therefore, companies and organizations involved in the storage, manufacture, trade, sale, transportation, and disposal of chemicals adopt are expected to and implement best practices in chemical management. Such practices are essential to minimize risks to human health, protect property, and safeguard the environment.
The programme served as an important platform to raise public awareness, promote responsible chemical management, and strengthen Sri Lanka’s commitment to the implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention.
